  • REPORT ON AGROVET CAMP: 19/02/2023 AT 6 ACRE, MONGPONG FOREST VILLAGE, KALIMPONG BLOCK-4, KALIMPONG DISTRICT

    An Agrovet camp was jointly organized by Rotary Club, Kalimpong in association with ARD, Kalimpong, Indian Red Cross Society, Kalimpong and Kalimpong Animal Shelter, Kalimpong at 6 Acre, Mongpong Forest Village, Kalimpong Block-1, Kalimpong District. The premises of 6 acre Junior Basic School was used for organizing the camp for the day.

    The respective departments jointly organized the camp in a very successful and disciplined manner. The camp was organized in the august presence of members representing the departments mentioned above. Dr. Devendra Pradhan, Deputy Director, ARD, Kalimpong was the main man behind the success of this Agrovet comp. He is holding post of Community service chair in Rotary Club of Kalimpong as well as Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Kalimpong District & also in sub- Divisional committee.

    The Kalimpong Animal Shelter was represented by:

    1) Rtn. Dr. D. Pandey, PP and Officer-in-charge, Kalimpong Animal Shelter and his team The Animal Resources Development Department (ARD), Kalimpong District was represented by:

    1) Dr. Deepak Sharma, Assistant Director, ARD, Kalimpong

    2) Dr. Brihat Chettri, Assistant Director, ARD, Poultry Multiplication centre, Kalimpong

    3) Dr. Sujeet Chettry, Veterinary officer, Mobile Veterinary Clinic, Kalimpong Block-1 and 20 nos of ARD stoff.

    The beneficiaries were distributed various inputs by various departments present. Staring with Red Cross Society of Kalimpong three kitchen sets were given to three needy individuals of Mongpong Forest Village. The basic hygiene kit & Buckets were distributed among 62 individuals both male and female. In addition with distribution, cloths were distributed among children and women of Forest Village. The Kalimpong Animal Shelter conducted Animal Birth Control camps and in total ten dogs were operated.

    The ARD Department along with its Mobile Veterinary Clinic distributed Deworming, Vitamins and minerals, Liver supplements, Appetizers and Antidiarrhoeal drugs to around 100 formers and anti rables vaccines were given to 20 dogs brought by individual owners. Livestock voccination were conducted by visiting individual cattle and buffalo sheds by 20 vaccinators from ARD Department in 32 no village, 6 acre village, Bhanga village, Mangpang Check post village and Rungdung village under Mongpong Forest Village, Kalimpong. (817) Eight hundred seventeen nos of livestock vaccination were done. Maize seeds, potato seeds and organic insecticidol were distributed among needy formers which were collected from Agriculture Department, Kalimpong.

    The Camp was a huge success and in total the community was benefited by organization of such camps. The villagers wanted such joint camps in near future also. The organizers were also very satisfied with such initiative.
