Opening of Adult Literacy Centre at a tribal Village

  • It was a wonderful feeling to see the zest for education among the tribal village women in the remote village of Jarkadanga.
  • September, being a literacy month and on International Literacy Day, i.e 8th September we started an adult Literacy centre for tribal women at remote area of Jharkadanga. The centre will be run with support from our RCC Bolpur Oikantik Society. The first class was attended by more than 10 women and girls and we hope to increase the number of students in near future. Our Literacy chairperson Rtn. Tanuka Das and our president took active participation in starting the classes. The programme was attended by 15 Rotarians. At the end of the class healthy snacks were distributed among the students. It was a wonderful feeling to see tribal women of all ages coming together to learn to write. Its aptly said “the greatest gift we can give to anyone else is EDUCATION”.
